Program Description

Event Details

Lilly is an author of both fiction and nonfiction books, many of which have some kind of recognition, including awards for her Titanic series. She is a Sweden native, currently residing in the Quad Cities. You can find most of her books on Amazon and her current release, WHEN THE LIGHTS COME BACK ON, in our collection.

Lilly Setterdahl will present a program about the Titanic, the passenger liners that sank on its Maiden Voyage, April 15, 1912. She will relate survivor and victim stories from her nonfiction book, NOT MY TIME TO DIE: TITANIC AND THE SWEDES ON BOARD, that was published in 2012 for the Titanic 100th anniversary of the sinking and show pictures.

The program will describe the decisions that families had to make when they found out that the husband and father had to stay behind and go down with the ship. The maritime rule at the time was, “Women and Children First.” 1,500 passengers and crew perished. There were not enough lifeboats for everyone. Mrs. Setterdahl has authored four books about the Titanic that will be on display and available, along with a few of her other books.
